Bhubaneswar-A emerge Kalahandi Cup champions

Bhubaneswar-A emerged champions in the three-day format of the Kalahandi Cup Inter-District Inter-Zonal Cricket Tournament by virtue of taking a 140-run first innings lead against East Coast Railway in the final match, which ended in a draw at Ravenshaw University ground in Cuttack today.

In reply to Bhubaneswar-A`s healthy total of 349, East Coast Railway were all out for 209 after resuming at the overnight score of 78 for six. The Bhubaneswar side made 69 for four in the second innings before both the captains agreed to end the match in a draw.
Bhubaneswar-A captain Debasis Mohanty played instrumental role in his team`s title triumph, scalping five wickets for six runs. Paresh Patel also made notable contribution for the Bhubaneswar team, hitting a sparkling 93.

Earlier, the top honours in the Twenty20 and One-day formats were claimed by Cuttack-A and East Coast Railway, while Bhubaneswar-A and Cuttack-A finished runners-up respectively. The title winners in each format received a cash prize of Rs 30,000 each, while the three second-placed teams were given Rs 20,000 each.

Ravenshaw University Registrar Smarapriya Mishra and host Orissa Cricket Association secretary Asirbad Behera handed over the trophy and cash prizes at the closing function.
